Comparison of Legends RPG and FUDGE    Dice Variants    Funky Dice    Magic    What is a roleplaying game (RPG) ?    Wizards and Armor

Legends is still a work in progress, and this section reveals some of the past and future of the system.

Comparison of Legends RPG and FUDGE

Having heard from a few people by now that the basic premise of Legends is similar to FUDGE, I decided to take a look and compare the two. [ more... ]

Dice Variants

A More Gentle Downward Spiral    FUDGE-style dice    Halfdice

Legends normally uses a Dice Pool. This has several advantages, but can become unwieldy with experienced characters. In addition, some players might dislike dice pools. This section discusses some alternatives to the standard dice pool. The same freeform character creation process and style of play is retained.

Funky Dice

Dice variant using "funky dice".

Roll 1d20+trio; the winner gets 1 success.

You may split the d20 into any number of dice that total 20 (e.g. 1d8, 1d12). This gives a chance for multiple successes, because you compare each roll with your opponent's highest roll. Note that you add your trio to each roll.

Issues 1. Would characters quickly move to 5d4? 2. How are fumbles handled? Perhaps a natural '1' is a fumble?

Magic

A Lexicon of Alchemy or Alchemical ...    Labat, the Lexicon of Baal Alchemy

These are experimental changes to the Legends magic system. This is a work in progress, so expect inconsistencies. [ more... ]

Whether you were reading a book or watching a movie, the characters and the story captured your imagination. There are many wonderful stories out there. When you play a roleplaying game, you and your fellow players create your own heroic characters and, together, develop your own stories.

Roleplaying is a hobby that stresses cooperation, teamwork, stimulation of the mind, competitive spirit, goal orientation, and above all, having fun. In roleplaying games, you build friendships. Put this together with a steady source of entertainment, and you can see that roleplaying games offer many benefits unavailable from more common forms of entertainment.

But what exactly is roleplaying? It is kind of like the Make-Believe you played as a child, when you playe [ more... ]

Wizards and Armor (updated 2008/02/04)

In traditional RPGs, the wizard character is restricted from wearing armor, typically from a sense of game balance. Legends does not have this restriction, yet, most wizards will likely not choose not to wear armor. [ more... ]
