You are much smaller than a typical person.

a.k.a. short, diminutive, small, tiny, stumpy, dwarf, fireplug

Benefits

Most characters don't need to worry about their Size because the typical Size for a normal person is 0. When you take this Signature Trait, your Size is 0 minus your Rank, so if you Rank +1 you are Size -1. Any difference in Size is extremely noticeable, and characters very rarely have a Size smaller than -2 (one foot tall).

  • You may declare this as an Advantage for Defend reactions where being small would let you more easily avoid the attack. (Note that small objects also receive this benefit when targeted by ranged attacks.)
  • You may declare this as an Advantage when you take the Hide action.
  • It is easier to move through tight spaces when you are small. Most characters need to spend an extra die when moving through doorways or other narrow spaces, but you do not if you describe your action well enough. Savvy players will find other creative ways to put their small stature to advantage, slipping through windows or wriggling out of the grasp of a captor.

Drawbacks

  • Smaller characters have a hard time wielding weapons made for normal people. They cannot wield weapons that normal people require two hands to use (i.e. "Heavy" weapons) at all. Weapons that normal people can use in either one or two hands (i.e. "Medium" weapons) must be wielded in two hands, but only inflict one-handed damage. A character smaller than Size -1 cannot use weapons made for normal people at all because the grip is too large. Most weapons are constructed for normal Size 0 people, but you can have smaller weapons custom made for you, subtracting your Rank to the class of the weapon.

Restriction

Once your character enters play any changes to your Rank require special GM permission. It is highly unusual for a character to change in Size.

This is an alternative to SIZE LARGE and both may not be taken by the same character.
