The Astral Sea, according to Black Wizards

If one accepts the fact that the Kha'din exist, and then one must also accept that there is a world beyond our own, for they are certainly not of our own world. The Kha'din only partially within our universe, and their touch making reality run like molten wax.

Arcane adepts such as the "Black Wizards of Aquila" have long possessed magics that allow them to create passages to the extra-dimensional spaces between the motes of our own universe, which they call the "Astral Sea". They have also discovered some passageways into the "Astral Sea", such as ancient cairns, silver gates of the Ithilrhi, or the primordial "Kha'din Pools". It is thought that this is the glue that binds our universe, and the source of all magic. As water is the foundation for our lives, the Astral Sea is the foundation of magic.

Some of the inner circle of "Black Wizards" have taken to exploring "Astral Sea" in search of ways to heighten their power. The "Astral Sea" has been described as a cold, formless, colorless realm trapped in a ghostly fog of mists and floating lights created by the souls of Astral travelers, who can move in any direction by thought alone. Darkness becomes solid there and in the floating magical maelstrom hours are a measurement of distance, like sailing on an uncoiled clock face.

Some have sought realms beyond the "Astral Sea", hypothesizing that the Kha'din are mere travelers as well, and come from some place beyond the veil of the "Astral Sea". Those who have delved too deeply seem haunted by the experience, mere shadows of their former selves, if they return at all. Others have been followed home by dwellers of the "Astral Sea".
