Heth'Mthus is an ancient holy city of Istaria, and is as wondrous as its surrounds. Unlike most cities, Heth'Mthus has no walls, for it is protected by the magic of the Brightlands as well as by a council of Istari white sorcerers.
The city itself consists of thousands of immense floating stones upon which the residents have constructed their dwellings. While the stones bob, rotate and drift like ships in a harbor, their position relative to the stones around them remains fixed enough to permit building of bridges--although some of islands remain separated by a gulf that must be crossed.
Beneath the city is the fabled "edge of the world", a massive waterfall that feeds into the northern seas.
The Floating Rock Gardens of Heth'Mthus are a mystic wonder. Over the years the gardens became filled with rare and dazzling stones, many of which are semi-precious. Visitors were allowed to rearrange the stones to their liking, but were encouraged to seek meaning in the natural configurations.
